KRISTIN MEUSER

I explore memory and emotions through large dimensional wall hangings that pair the frozen, mute faces of my pretty dolls with the raw energy of wild animals. Acting as metaphors, these animal partners howl the volatile emotions the dolls never could, transforming unspoken feelings into a roar.
Kristin was born and raised in Oakland, CA and received her BA from UC Berkeley where she was awarded the Dean’s Award in Painting upon graduation. She trained in Graphic Design and practiced print and website design for many years. Because of her love of the natural world, she has taught watercolor nature journaling for the past 15 years both online and in person throughout California. Over her 50 year art practice she has returned to the family tradition of handwork in recent years working with paper detritus, sewing machine stitching and hand embroidery on Lokta paper which is created in the mountains of Nepal.
