My art journey began as a teen, taking courses from C. Heurlin, a renowned Alaskan landscape artist. I was raised in interior Alaska, every day experiencing a glimpse of the surreal, whether in 60 below zero winters, whistling to the Aurora or skipping rocks in the midnight sun. My mom and grandparents were raised in the Athabaskan nomadic tradition, living in tents and moving with the seasons following the fish and game. I continued our subsistence traditions and became an elected Alaskan Native leader for our tribes. My art grows from my deep connection to the land, to spirit, to the light emanating through every space on earth. My art explores magical shamanic experiences that surround us and occasionally appear in our reality. It explores boundaries between the modern and primordial, the seen and unseen.
