Mónica Leal Cueva is a mixed-media artist and photographer born in Mexico into a passionately artistic family. Musical and bohemian poetry-performing evenings stroked her fascination with the fundamental unity of the creative process through word, sound, light and found images. Based now in Los Angeles, Monica is currently Art Assistant for Tom Wudl and manages her own freelance photography and artist-assisting business.
I create digital collages with images that I generate myself through the exploration of my environment. As a photographer, I go out to explore the desert, abandoned towns or remote isolated locations. I shoot the scenery and bring back images and compose them to become the setting for the lambs -and sometimes goats, cows- living in surreal landscapes.
